I have made quite a bit of progress with my characters and where they live. At first glace, you'd think he was he was a villain, however that is not the case. He's an infamous gunslinger, known to be one of the greatest duellists of all time. He uses six of his legs to hold revolvers and often smokes a cigar in his fangs. He's normally seen loitering in and around The Nest Saloon. His name is Hairy Harry Graves, a name that is feared by most. Before he was a famed gunslinger, he was a lawbug. The law recruit a lot of spiders because they are able to catch outlaws in webs. Itchy Ira Delaney, the main character, and his gang have terrorized the desert for years. He is a cold-hearted killer who'd do anything for money. Ira famously robbed Flower Pot Bank 1882 and was also the bug that killed the great Eli "The Pincher" Briggs. Ira is a lot of things; he's cruel, bloodthirsty and extremely irritating but he isn't selfish. Most of the money he steals go...
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone Film Review

I have watched Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone many times now, and every time I notice something new. This time watching it, I made notes and watched it as a critic and not just a viewer. I really like the structure of the film. At the very start of the film, we see Hagrid, Dumbledore and McGonagall take baby Harry to his auntie and uncle after the death of his parents. Seeing the wizards first, it sets the tone for the whole film. When Harry is a bit more grown up, you see how horrible his home life is. He still lives with his auntie, uncle and his cousin and he sleeps under the stairs. Showing this is important because it gives us something to compare his life at Hogwarts to. When the family begin to get bombarded with letters, we know that Hogwarts are desperate to get in touch with Harry. We already know that he means something to the wizards because of the opening scene, so this must mean they need him for something. This was very carefully structured. In Joseph...

In the lesson with Justin, we were given the brief for our characters. I was given a spaghetti western setting but instead of people, everyone is bugs. First, I started thinking about a villain. Bugs that could be villains are things like spiders and mosquitos. Since the characters are going to be gunslingers I thought that a spider would be great for a villain. I started thinking up some names that would suit a gunslinger spider. The spider will smoke a cigar in his fangs. Name Ideas: Hairy Harry Eight Gun Eli Silas One of my favourite characters is Davy Jones from PoTC. I like his mannerisms and the way he speaks to others. I think that Davy will be a great influence for my spider gunslinger. There's going to be a duel. For the duel the spider character will challenge the mosquito. The reason this duel happens is because the mosquito, a very annoying creature, annoys the spider whilst he's drinking. I will also need to think about the town it ...

This is the outfit design for Frank Frank, our main character. I wanted him to have a generally normal outfit. He can't be bothered to dress up in state of the art sporting attire. Shorts and a T Shirt will do him just fine. He is the cheater of the contest. One sock has fallen down, showing us he doesn't take much pride in his appearance.

This character is a stereotypical sportsman. He maybe takes sport too seriously. He wants to look the part whilst competing. He most likely abides to all of the rules of the contests he competes in. I have shown this using the white headband. The headband is almost like a halo. Whilst designing his outfit, I came up with a name for him. That being, Cheating Chester. All of the competitors in the competition have names that oppose their personality.

Where We Are At We have just written up out first script draft. We have decided to go with the idea of ‘The Honest Contest’. This idea consists of a sporting event, commentated by the narrator. Throughout, our main character, Frank Frank, finds different elaborate ways to cheat in order to win. However, as the contest goes on and the cheating continues, strange things start to happen… We have had some pretty fun and interesting ideas for our animation and we’re really enjoying the project.

Camera Work (Tripod) Static Shot: This is where the camera doesn’t move at all. Pan: In a pan shot, the camera will move left or right. A slow pan normally builds anticipation, and a whip pan heightens the energy of a shot. Tilt: The tilt directs the camera upward or downward. This is used to capture the verticality of a film’s world. It can be used to give a character dominance, or vulnerability.

Survive Whilst the chaos is happening on screen, the Interrupter begins eating a packet of crisps. At first, the viewer will be confused… why can they hear somebody eating? Then, the narrator will shout at the Interrupter. He will say something along the lines of “Seriously, Prawn Cocktail?!” completely ignoring the fact he is eating so loudly. Also, during this scene, there will be various instruments being played… very badly. This will help intensify the craziness of the scene. Some of these instruments could be recorded and edited in Garage Band. There will also be some white noise, ear ringing and mobile phone interference. As well as all this, there is going to be shouting coming from the crowd. Quotes like, “Stop eating my son!” and “What is happening?!”. On screen, there will be an ‘end of the world’ type scenario. People running around like headless chickens, things falling over, strange creatures like a walking fish and physics being broken. ...

For this project, we have been arranged into groups of three and our goal is to create a comedic animated short. We were all given an incomplete starting sentence to use as the creative basis for the project. The sentence me and the group I am in were given is "How to cheat at_". As a group, we came up with "How to cheat at a race". We starting researching different comedic sketches, videos and more. I looked into Monty Python, a comedy troupe that I find funny. Using some of the research and formed some ideas. HOW TO CHEAT AT A RACE (INFLUENCES AND IDEAS) Monty Python Most Monty Python sketches are funny because they are ridiculous. Sketches like ‘The Argument Clinic’ or ‘The Killer Joke’ are examples of this. I think that Monty Python will be great to research because it will give us ideas on the pacing of the skits, since a lot of Python sketches get more and more silly as they go on. Researching Python will also give us some ideas on the sort of hum...
