The Princess Bride Film Review
I really didn't enjoy The Princess Bride. It wasn't my sort of film. I couldn't get invested in the characters and the story. I didn't really like the plot of the film either. Before watching the film, we looked at Character Architypes. The hero in the story is introduced at the start of the film as a farm boy called Westley. He is speaking to a character called Buttercup who is the maiden, love interest and Damsel in distress. Westley leaves the farm and goes off find fortune so they can marry. His ship is attacked the Dread Pirate Roberts and everyone thinks that he is dead. A number of years later, Buttercup is forcibly betrothed to Prince Humperdinck, the ruler of the story. Buttercup is then kidnapped before the wedding by three outlaws. They are called Vizzini, Fezzik and Inigo Montoya. Westley must save his love and make sure the wedding doesn't go ahead. I understand that they tried to do a stereotypical story with a twist but for me, it just wasn't that good. I feel like I have watched films like that hundreds of times before and so I just lost interest in the film.
