Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind Film Review

I really enjoyed this film. The story was gripping, intense and well told. The characters were also very good and it was easy to get attached to them. Before watching the film, we looked at non-linear storylines. This was film was a perfect example of a non-linear storyline. The film mostly takes place in the main character's, Joel, mind. He is having the memories of a woman he once fell in love with wiped from his memory. There is a lot of going back and forth in time in the film. It often cuts back to the point actually with Joel in the room whilst his memory is getting deleted. The film required a lot of attention however. If you was to take your eyes off the screen or stop listening for under a minute you will be very confused as to what's going on. Luckily though, I was too gripped to take my eyes off of it. Non-linear storylines done well are very fun to watch, it helps us get background knowledge on characters and allows us get to know them better. The film was very disorientating at times but that was what they were going for. There was a lot of different special effects used too which added to the confusion.
